Fall Semester First Year: First Year Seminar
What will you do in the experience?
My plan is to create a program that specifically tries to bring green energy to campus through petitioning and fund raising.
How will it benefit your purposeful exploration, personal, professional and/or civic growth?
The use of coal energy may be effective, but it is not clean like some other forms of energy, bringing solar and wind power to campus would be a fantastic place to start my civic growth. Everyone has to live on this planet, so we should take steps now to provide greener energy before it’s too late.
Spring Semester First Year:
What are the requirements/prerequisites? What is your plan to gain access?
First, I will need to research any laws preventing me from doing so, and then I will need to contact the dean about setting up fund raisers and petitions on campus.Second I will need to research new forms of green energy for cost and effectiveness, then I will need to develop a pitch for those in charge of campus development.
What will you do in the experience?
Research and design a greener campus
Fall Semester Second Year:
What are the requirements/prerequisites? What is your plan to gain access?
By the fall semester of my second year, I hope to be in the early planning phase when it comes to placing green energy on campus
What will you do in the experience?
By this point, I hope to have made plans to implement wind and solar energy on campus. If all goes well, the possibility of this is not the issue, but rather the laws
How will it benefit your purposeful exploration, personal, professional and/or civic growth?
By this point my professional growth would be significant, doing my own research and petitioning for a legitimate cause would in itself be a major growth for anyone professionally
Spring Semester Second Year:
What are the requirements/prerequisites? What is your plan to gain access?
By the spring semester, I hope to have at least gotten permission to do some test runs with the spiral shaped windmills, and I hope to have gotten more solar panels installed around campus.
What will you do in the experience?
By this phase, most of the petitioning should be over, so I will need to rely on my own research to get past this point.
How will it benefit your purposeful exploration, personal, professional and/or civic growth?
Caring about a cause greater than myself is a fantastic way to grow in all aspects of life. This would not only benefit me, but it would provide a starting point for the end goal, perhaps after I am graduated, of a 100% green campus. After all,we are GREEN bay.
