Final Reflection
Our class project for GPS asset with Phuture Phoenix to help kids pursue college after high school. We helped Phuture Phoenix by performing skits about Vikings which we learned in our GPS class last semester. So, we wanted to help stress that college isn’t just about taking exams, homework, and test but it’s about learning to things as well having a great time doing it. This has changed my view when it comes to knowing what high schools know and don’t know about college. This will then help me identify what high schoolers need to know when it comes to college. We also learned that kids had a lot of question when it comes to college and kids are worried about going to college. I didn’t have many misconceptions about the issues before the service because I helped out with Phuture Phoenix last semester. Some of the obstacles that we encountered during the project was thinking what to for the project as well as scheduling people for times to do the project. When we first had to start the project, there was confusion about what we should do for a project. It hurt us because people were torn on what we should do so then Heidi suggested that we could do something with Vikings, so then that narrowed our vision on what we did. As well some confusion came from scheduling because the class had different schedules from one another. But we overcame this problem by talking about it then writing times we could be available on a whiteboard. I learned that I was open and accepting of others when it comes to performing the skits with my classmates. This is helping me with my classes by listing to people with more focus and take time also to help them if they need it. All the challenges and things I enjoyed during this project has helped me grow as a people because this project has brought me closer to my classmates. Also, I feel more conferrable to speak to my classmates and share my opinion. I plan to use what I learned from this project and plan to apply it to my life because I feel this has changed me. Also, it has opened me up to participate in more service projects when it comes to helping the community. I’m glad that I’ve done this project because it has shown me how to respect others and respect everyone’s dissections. I also will use what I learned to help people in need if that means donating food or help others by giving me time to help them. Finally, this project had issues that we all had to overcome and then using this information to help others in the community as well as individuals in general. This project has helped me grow as a person and as a friend because what I learned from this project. As well as showing that people should help others in need because it helps the people in need as well the people that are helping the ones in need.
The accomplishment that I’m most proud of is passing all my classes during my first year at UW-Green Bay. I’m pleased because my courses were more challenging than high school classes, so I’m proud that I got good grades and passed all of my classes. My most significant growth over the year is taking time to study and learn the content that is being taught by the teacher. As well as participating in class. In high school, I never took time to study, but I learned fast that you need to take time and research the content for each class. Then also I started to take more in-depth notes for my classes which then, in turn, helped me study better because more of my notes were organized. I will build on these accomplishments by keep on taking better notes to study off of and keep on participating in class to get a better idea of the content that is being taught. Also, I will try to attend more study sessions because the ones I went to has helped me understand the material better. One thing that I would have done my first year differently is trying to make more friends and being more open to others than just having my core group of friends to lean on. I want to get better at being more open to others because in the future it could benefit me when it comes to getting a job or just making friends that I otherwise wouldn’t have had. The way I’m going to fix this is by making more friends in the study groups that I’ll be a part of next semester. I will use what I’ve learned from these experiences to grow and be a more open person to others and try to make more friends. I will use all of the lessons to have an even better sophomore year because I want to keep on getting good grades as well to be a better person when it comes to academics and being better with people at UW-Green Bay. If a friend was considering coming to UWGB next year, the advice I would give them to help them have a good start and a great college experience would be open as well take risks. I say more open because my first year I wasn’t that open, and it turned me into becoming a more shy person when it comes to class also when it comes to being friends with more people. Then when talking about having risk in college is that trying new thing will help people understand what works and doesn’t work for certain people. Also taking a risk could help you find what you’re looking if you didn’t take that risk and I wish that I took more risks when it came to my first year at UW-Green Bay. Finally, my first college year at UW-Green Bay was, and there were things I regret not doing. As well if people have doubts about coming here, they shouldn’t because Green Bay is a safe and enjoyable environment to be a part of.
